The Miami Herald has this story on viewing e-cards from FriendGreeting.com. According to The Herald, people are tricked because an email asks them to click on a link to view a virtual postcard they’ve received from FriendGreeting.com. That click begins to download software they supposedly need to view the e-card. Users are asked to accept a license agreement to open the application. Once a user clicks on "yes," the software is activated on their computers. It sends emails in the user’s name to every contact in a Microsoft Outlook address book.

ePeople announced ePeople Teamwork 4.5, web-based collaborative support software for companies that sell complex products. Teamwork 4.5 has new features including Resolve Anywhere for email collaboration, Knowledge Automation and support for account management.

Panda Software announced its participation at the Infosecurity Conference Round Table this week in New York City. Patrick Hinojosa, Chief Technology Officer of Panda Software U.S., will participate in a panel discussion focusing on how to design a complete enterprise security architecture. The panel discussion will take place on Thursday, December 12, 2002 at 2:45 through 3:45, at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, New York, NY.

SpearHead Security Technologies announced the availability of Secure Webmail. Secure Webmail provides remote access to email for an enterprise’s entire employee base without the need for VPN or authentication client software.

Internet Week reports that Microsoft issued two new security patches, one for Internet Explorer and another for Microsoft Outlook. The Explorer security flaw could allow attackers to read files on a computer that visited their Web site. The Outlook problem would allow an attacker to crash the Outlook client by sending an email to the user with a deliberately malformed header.

BetaNews has an article on AOL’s debut in beta form of AOL Communicator. The article talks about how communicator could be pitted as a competitor to Microsoft’s Outlook Express.

The Times-News mailbag section talking about SpamNet, which works on Microsoft Outlook running on Windows 2000 or XP. According to the article, "SpamNet taps into the peer-to-peer approach used to share music across the Internet even as it uses spam’s very nature against it. It has the potential to instantly eliminate spam–all spam."

MacCentral reports Little Machines has announced Outlook2Mac, an application designed to help Windows users move their Microsoft Outlook email, contacts and calendar appointments to Mac OS X programs. According to the article, it’s the second such program designed to aid "Switchers," the first being Detto Technologies’ Move2Mac.

Advisor.com has an article on the Novell GroupWise 6.5 collaboration platform. The article notes, "GroupWise ranked third in 2001–behind Domino and Exchange–in revenue and ability to gain new market share as well as in new users and total users, according to a report from IDC."
