Linux software vendor SuSE Linux introduced the SuSE Linux Openexchange Server, an open-source email and collaboration platform. InternetWeek reports that the Openexchange Server email server supports email and directory standards including OpenLDAP, IMAP, and POP. Because of its standards support, it can work with other email clients, most notably the Microsoft Outlook client that comes with Windows.

Infowave Software announced the launch of the Infowave Mobile Application Gateway. The Infowave Mobile Application Gateway establishes a services platform for network operators to offer wireless data solutions for their corporate customers, including wireless email and calendar for Microsoft Exchange.

Castelle announced the release of FaxPress 7.0. FaxPress 7.0 provides support for Outlook Forms, one-button viewing capability, and the ability to select additional options to configure outgoing fax jobs.

The vulnerability, which was found in Outlook Express versions 5.5 and 6.0, could allow a remote attacker to take control of machines running Outlook Express using malicious code embedded in an email message.
