iHateSpam price drop

Sunbelt Software announced that iHateSpam, a junk email filtering software for Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express, is now available for $19.95. The product had previously been available for $29.95. The pricing change is effective immediately on Sunbelt’s online shop; retail stores that carry the product are expected to drop their prices imminently.

Backup critical files

Peer Software combined its PeerSync synchronization and backup software with St. Bernard’s Open File Data Protection technology to create a product that lets IT managers protect their applications even when they are in use. According to Network World Fusion, the software saves business-critical open or locked files, which are often skipped when the rest of the network is backed up or synchronized.

Email for mobile users

Visto Corporation announced the availability of their new product, Visto MessageXpress for mobile professionals. MessageXpress, which supports Lotus Notes, Microsoft Outlook and POP3 email, was designed for users to access their corporate and Internet email accounts on a variety of devices and platforms, including Pocket PC and Palm OS.

New features that Panda Antivirus Platinum 7.0 include the ability to scan and disinfect all incoming and outgoing email traffic; wizards for antivirus and firewall configuration; and the scanning of network files and data transferred from computers to handheld devices.

Monitor system files

GFI announced GFI LANguard System Integrity Monitor (S.I.M.) monitors important system files for changes. If anything happens to them, the program immediately sends an alert to an administrator.

New security vulnerabilities

Information Week reports that Microsoft has listed eight software-security vulnerabilities. The vulnerabilities are in Microsoft’s Virtual Machine for Java.

Manage Microsoft Exchange

Sprint announced the availability of an enhanced Managed Microsoft Exchange solution that is supposed to reduce messaging costs for business customers. Through an agreement with Abridean, Sprint’s enterprise customers can administer and manage hosted messaging services, including email and scheduling.
