
C2C Systems has confirmed that United States Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) has deployed Active Folders Content Manager. Active Folders can find email fast by searching single or multiple Information Stores; local and central PSTs; mailboxes, folders or sub-folders of mailboxes; folder type or name; content of message or item; property of message or item; or by any combination of these.

Sunbelt Software announced the release of a major upgrade to iHateSpam Server Edition. The new version 1.1 delivers several improvements to the existing version, including a revamped reporting engine, enhanced support for clustering environments, and the ability to redirect spam to a specified mailbox. iHateSpam now gives administrators the ability to redirect messages to a specified mailbox (such as admin) for quarantined mail to be delivered.

Analysts are seeing Palm’s shift in strategy as it has signed a comprehensive multi-year, multi-release agreement with IBM to distribute the Websphere Micro Environment (IBM’s Java Mobile Information Device Profile runtime) with its future Tungsten handhelds. PalmOne has also stepped-up support for Palm synching to Microsoft Outlook as it says upwards of 50 percent of its user-base synchs to the email application.

Chapura announced that every Palm Zire 21 handheld will ship with PocketMirror Standard software for synchronization with Microsoft Outlook. PocketMirror software connects your desktop with your handheld. Chapura also released PocketMirror 3.1.5 software. Both PocketMirror Standard and PocketMirror Professional are now compatible with Microsoft Outlook 2003 and include an updated progress monitor.

GFI has launched a freeware version of GFI FAXmaker for Exchange that enables users to send and receive SMS/text messages from Microsoft Outlook. This allows them to easily contact business colleagues and associates who are on the road or away from their desk.

Flexigen Software released ActualDoc 1.0, a document manager with extended capabilities. Unlike Windows built-in solution, this program supports over 40 graphic, MS Office, text and HTML formats, is not limited to the last 15 documents, has text search options, keeps track of launched applications and comes with privacy protection options.

Sunbelt Software announced the launch of iHateSpam Gateway Edition, providing enterprise-wide spam filtering for all current Exchange platforms running in gateway environments. The new iHateSpam Gateway Edition broadens the company’s existing product line to include effective spam detection for enterprises using Exchange 5.5, 2000 and 2003 in a gateway environment.

Australia’s IT News says application service provider WebCentral had updated the Microsoft Exchange-based managed exchange service it initially offered in July 2002 direct and through its partners, such as Adelaide hosting reseller CDAA.
