Tie your IP telephones to email, directories

Net6 announced the availability of ScreenTop, which provides a way to tie IP telephones to packaged applications, such as visual voice mail, organization-wide corporate directories, alerts, or email, along with the ability to transform any HTML or XML-based business application for delivery to the screen of the IP telephone. ScreenTop Email and PIM enables employees to access email packages like Microsoft Exchange. Users can check and respond to email from conference rooms, view their calendar from a conference room or keep it opened at their desk, and soft-dial from their contacts from anywhere on campus.

IT spending increased in August

The Wendover-Global Insight IT Spending Index increased through August by 12% over the average for Q2, indicating that IT sales are firming up a bit. However, there is no clear signal that a robust market is in store over the next two quarters, and the Index is still well below pre-recession peaks. Replacement spending continues, but firms are not yet allocating budget to discretionary IT.

Scopeware releases RSS product

Scopeware has announced the availability of Scopeware Vision 2.1, which integrates RSS feeds with the content on your computer. Scopeware Vision’s interface responds to keyword searches by displaying the results in visual, chronological streams. Search results include RSS feeds and most standard file types- including digital photos, mp3s, Adobe PDFs, Web pages, Outlook and Outlook Express email, and Microsoft Office documents and non-standard file types defined by the user. The software features several preloaded RSS feeds so that users can access online news and content from sites like CNN, Rolling Stone and Yahoo News.

GlobalStreams partners with Cerulean Studios

GlobalStreams announced it has launched a partnership with Cerulean Studios, makers of the popular Trillian software. Under the agreement, Cerulean Studios will be integrating GlobalStreams’ new Vibe Phone video communication service into its Trillian software. Vibe Phone allows anyone with a PC webcam and broadband access via cable or DSL modem the ability to communicate face to face from their PC with a few clicks.
