Veritas Storage Foundation 4.0 for Windows

VERITAS Software Corporation announced the availability of VERITAS Storage Foundation 4.0 for Windows, storage management and virtualization software that integrates with Microsoft platforms to manage storage in Windows environments. An option to VERITAS Storage Foundation for Windows, VERITAS FlashSnap is a software-based snapshot solution that leverages Microsoft’s Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) that enables Microsoft-supported snapshots of Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 and Microsoft SQL Server 2000.

IntelliReach partners with Tabula Rosa

IntelliReach Corporation announced they have entered into a strategic sales partnership with Tabula Rosa Systems. In accordance with the partnership agreement, Tabula Rosa will sell IntelliReach’s MessageScreen Platinum. MessageScreen integrates an anti-spam and anti-virus engine with an explicit image filter. The MessageScreen messaging firewall provides email security for Microsoft Exchange, Novell GroupWise and IBM Lotus Notes messaging environments.

Local governments using CanIt to fight spam

Roaring Penguin announced that the Cities of Garden Grove and West Hollywood in California, and the Town of Davidson in North Carolina are fighting spam with Roaring Penguin Software’s CanIt anti-spam solutions. CanIt is based on the MIMEDefang email inspection and manipulation software. It can be deployed in any enterprise enterprise email environment, including on all Linux and UNIX servers. As a stand-alone gateway appliance, it can protect email environments running non-UNIX servers, such as Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Notes and Novell Groupwise.

Microsoft CRM 1.2 released

Microsoft Business Solutions announced the general availability in North America of Microsoft Customer Relationship Management (CRM) 1.2, the first scheduled release to Microsoft’s flagship CRM offering since it was launched in January 2003. Microsoft CRM 1.2 was designed specifically for small and midsize businesses and divisions and departments of large organizations, and is accessible from Microsoft Outlook and the Web.

Motorola MPx200 review

The Washington Post reviews the Motorola MPx200, the first cell phone available in the United States with Microsoft’s Smartphone 2002 Pocket PC software. The review says that once you plug the phone into a PC running Windows 98 or later, its ActiveSync software automatically updates the MPx200’s address book, calendar, to-do list and email inbox, but not text notes, with the records in Microsoft Outlook.

Telephony continues shift to VoIP

ITBusiness Canada says that as telephony continues shifting from the traditional circuit-switched approach to packet-switching using Internet Protocol (IP), the unified messaging market stands to benefit. Organizations replacing old-style private branch exchanges (PBXs) with voice over IP (VoIP) technology are likely to look at unified messaging at the same time. It becomes easier to offer access to all messages through a commonly used client like Microsoft Exchange or Lotus Domino, and applications such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) can be tied in with an IP messaging scheme.
