WordPerfect MAIL stands alone

Corel has introduced a stand-alone version of WordPerfect MAIL, to compete directly with Microsoft’s Outlook email program. WordPerfect MAIL was first made available as part of the WordPerfect Small Business office suite earlier this year. The stand-alone version is aimed directly at the small business and home users at a price of $34.

Solving a storage problem

Seattle Pacific University, a college with about 3,600 undergraduates, first implemented a 2 terabyte (TB) FC SAN as the storage backbone for Microsoft Exchange. Those 2 TBs seemed huge back then, but it’s been dwarfed by email volume, as email has become a core business application. Go Daddy Group releases Online Group Calendar

The Go Daddy Group announced today the release of Online Group Calendar. Online Group Calendar allows you to share your calendars, schedule meetings or events, send invitations, manage resources (like equipment and meeting rooms) and even share files with other group members anywhere, anytime, through any computer with an Internet connection. It works with popular email clients, including Microsoft Outlook.

Possible legal action against Microsoft Vista

InfoWorld reports that John Wall, chief executive officer of custom application and services provider Vista, said his company is considering taking action to challenge Microsoft over the naming of the next version of the Windows operating system.

Window Genuine Advantage to roll out soon

Microsoft is expected to roll out a program requiring customers to validate that they are running legitimate copies of Windows before they can use Microsoft’s download services. The Windows Genuine Advantage 1.0 program ensures that customers using Windows Update, Microsoft Update for Windows, and the Microsoft Download Center run a program that checks that their Windows operating system is genuine before they can download updates or new content from those services.
