PocketMirror for Windows Mobile

Chapura released PocketMirror Professional 1.0 for Microsoft Windows Mobile. The software adds to the basic Microsoft Outlook PIM synchronization features of Microsoft ActiveSync and has the categorization capabilities in Pocket Outlook, which is built into Windows Mobile-based devices.

RoadSync now shipping

DataViz announced that its new RoadSync product for Palm Powered handhelds and smartphones is shipping. Based on the Exchange ActiveSync protocol licensed from Microsoft, RoadSync provides wireless synchronization with Exchange Server 2003.

WordPerfect Mail stands alone

Focusing on its claim to complete email searches in seconds, Corel announced that it will offer WordPerfect Mail as a standalone product. With the goal of taking a piece of Outlook’s user base, WordPerfect Mail is designed to make it easy for you to import, emails, folders and contacts from Outlook.

Allen’s company sells its own Microsoft Outlook plug-in to bring Getting Things Done to your inbox, but followers find all kinds of applications and devices to run their "life hacks."

Microsoft targets Notes users

Microsoft is gunning for IBM’s Lotus Notes users in an effort to quadruple the size of its ISV partner community around the Office desktop productivity suite. The company will launch a sales and marketing campaign in September that encourages 100m Notes customers to build their future collaborative software applications and services on Office and SharePoint Portal Server.

Microsoft goes after IBM and Oracle

Speaking at Microsoft’s Worldwide Partners Conference in Minneapolis, Simon Witts said Microsoft is eyeing accounts where Exchange Server can displace IBM/Lotus offerings and where Oracle databases could be replaced by SQL Server 2005, scheduled to launch in November. Witts is corporate vice president of the company’s enterprise and partner group.

Novell released GroupWise 7 beta

Novell yesterday released a public beta version of its upcoming GroupWise 7 collaboration suite. Novell also announced competitive programs to encourage users to migrate from Exchange and Lotus Notes to GroupWise.

Microsoft pays big bucks to IBM

Microsoft agreed last week to pay IBM $775 million and provide $75 million worth of software. IBM had not sued Microsoft, but pressed claims that U.S. District Judge Thomas Penfield Jackson detailed in his 2000 ruling that Microsoft had broken antitrust law.
