White paper on security

Because enterprises are expected to react quickly to changing circumstances, there is a new impetus for "going wireless." Along with this trend comes an assortment of viruses, worms, and other threats. A new white paper from F-Secure, "Content Security at Hand," describes the various elements in today’s mobile infrastructure, outlines the threats, and presents information on F-Secure’s range of solutions to these threats. The white paper was issued at the Wireless East conference in New York on February 20.

AvantGo partners with BEA

AvantGo announced that it has joined the Star Partner Program of BEA Systems, Inc. AvantGo also announced that its AvantGo M-Business Server, AvantGo Mobile Delivery and AvantGo Mobile Sales applications now support BEA WebLogic Server, enabling customers to extend their existing Web-based enterprise applications to mobile and wireless devices using AvantGo’s enterprise mobile software.

New release of SDS Time

There is now a new release of the time reporting program SDS Time. The new release adds color support and also support for the Clie Jog Dial navigator. SDS Time is a spreadsheet oriented time reporting program for consultants, lawyers, and other people working by hour. The program provides an overview of the reported times with a day, week, and month view including day, task, and week totals.

Simplicity for Mobile Servers

Data Representations, Inc. announced the general availability of Simplicity for Mobile Servers at PalmSource Expo 2002. This application development software was shown for the first time in the Cingular Wireless booth. Data Representations & Cingular built integrated server and Palm applications for attendees then sent responses and requests via Palm.Net to a server based in New Jersey. The demonstration was a proof statement for how quickly and efficiently the network operates and how easy it is to program applications and servlets in a J2EE and J2ME Java Enterprise Environment using Simplicity for Mobile Servers rapid application development tools.
