
Palm, Inc. unveiled the Palm Web Browser. This full-featured HTML browser gives users of Internet-enabled Palm m125, m130, m500, m505, m515, and i705 handhelds the ability to access any URL on the Internet, bookmark and categorize favorite sites, easily save information for offline viewing, and cache a history of visited sites. Users can do this whether they are connected to the Internet wirelessly or via a modem. The Palm Web Browser is scheduled to be available in the United States on April 8, in Europe at the end of April, and in other regions at a later date, for an estimated U.S. street price of $19.95 (or local equivalent). It will be available for purchase and download online in the United States at The Palm Store, in Europe at PalmDirect.com, and in other regions through various third-party online vendors.

Palm, Inc. has issued a press release announcing that Palm handheld computers now are being applied widely by nurses, housing inspectors, and small-business loan providers in locations ranging from Orange and Los Angeles counties to Third World countries. Saving up to half the time necessary to complete paperwork means more time to help those who really need their attention and energy.

iambic Inc. announced it has released a series of new and upgraded software products to support the Palm OS family. Available for demonstration at CeBIT 2002 is newly created Action Names School contact-management and scheduling software, along with upgraded versions of the company’s iambic Mail portable email solution.

CNN reports Samsung Electronics plans to put on sale in the U.S. a new version of its Palm OS based PDA cell-phone handset in April. According to the article, the SPH-M330 is smaller and lighter than the current model and will work on Code Division Multiple Access 2000 1X networks. It also adds support for gpsOne, a hybrid service that combines signals from GPS satellites and CDMA base stations to determine a user’s location.

Palm has released a Palm Desktop 4.1 beta for download. The new version adds two new technologies which allow developers to extend and expand its capabilities: Addins and Extensions.

A developer of wearable computing, Xybernaut, and SCOTT eVEST LLC and Technology Enabled Clothing LLC announced a joint marketing and education agreement to promote public awareness of wearable computing technologies and apparel that work together fashionably and functionally. The agreement among Xybernaut Corporation, Technology Enabled Clothing (TEC) LLC, and SCOTTeVEST LLC was announced during the 7th annual International Conference on Wearable Computing (ICWC) at COMDEX Chicago.

AvantGo, Inc. introduced AvantGo Mobile Pharma, a packaged mobile application specifically built for pharmaceutical sales representatives. AvantGo Mobile Pharma is designed to help pharmaceutical companies gain market share by dramatically improving the quality of physician interactions and increasing the productivity of their sales representatives. The mobile application provides sales representatives with access to the information most relevant to them, including their existing sales force automation (SFA) system, product, and clinical data, prescription distribution data, corporate intranet and the Internet on their handheld devices.

Astea International Inc. and MultiMedical Systems announced a new product offering for the healthcare industry that integrates the mobile CRM capabilities of Astea’s AllianceEnterprise CRM Suite with portable biomedical equipment testers and safety analyzers. The new AllianceEnterprise MedService solution elevates automation of biomedical equipment management and testing to the enterprise level for equipment manufacturers, hospital asset managers and third-party service providers.

Air2Web announced the closing of its acquisition of 2Roam, a global wireless software and service provider. Under the terms of the agreement, Air2Web acquired 2Roam’s Wireless Solution, its customer base including marquee customers such as eBay, Best Western International, and Hoover’s, Inc., and retained its co-founder and Board Chairman Bryan Wargo.

MobileWise, Inc. began showing investors and potential OEM customers the first safe wire-free electric power technology for use with mobile computing devices. MobileWise expects to begin shipping the multiple patents-pending technology later this year.
