Genesys Conferencing launched a new version of its Web-based conferencing and collaboration service, Genesys Meeting Center. Genesys Meeting Center 2.0 provides advanced meeting functionality including the integration of audio, web and desktop multipoint video, enhanced Microsoft Outlook Calendar support and Microsoft MSN Messenger integration.

Pumatech, Inc. announced that Mirror Worlds Technologies, developers of Scopeware, will license Pumatech’s Enterprise Intellisync server-to-server connectivity and synchronization technology. Scopeware users will be able to synchronize their calendar, contacts, tasks and email between Scopeware and Microsoft Outlook (via Microsoft Exchange), Lotus Notes (via Lotus Domino), and PDA/wireless devices.

Omtool, Ltd. announced the availability of Genifax 3.1, the latest version of its Windows 2000-based network fax server. Genifax is a network fax server application that enables reliable high-volume faxing through existing messaging systems such as Microsoft Outlook and Lotus Notes.

iHello Inc. announced a new voice application that enables real time voice access to corporate Microsoft Exchange systems. iHello Voice Outlook, employs Nuance’s speech recognition engine, Nuance 8.0. With a phone call, you can access and read corporate emails, respond to critical issues and initiate phone calls to any contact in Outlook by saying the contact’s name.

The Register reports that there’s a new worm called JS.Fortnight that drops a file which is then inserted into the default signature for Outlook Express. Every time the infected computer sends an email message, the message will contain the code.

Microsoft has released a patch that addresses six security vulnerabilities in Internet Explorer. According to this article from CNN, the patch also disables frames in the Restricted Sites zone. This means that recently released Microsoft email clients will disable frames in HTML email by default. The change was made to eliminate the possibility of an HTML email automatically opening a new window or launching the download of an executable.

Ximian project has released a new version of Evolution, the Microsoft Outlook clone for Linux. ZDNet reports that Evolution allows Linux users to connect to a Microsoft Exchange server.

Red Earth Software announced that Nissan Ireland has deployed a 250-user installation of Policy Patrol for adding disclaimers and signatures to their emails. Policy Patrol adds user-based disclaimers and signatures to internal and external emails at server level. Policy Patrol works with Exchange Server 2000/5.5.
