Internet Week reports that Okena Inc. revealed an upgraded version of its StormWatch intrusion-detection system (IDS). StormWatch 3.0 includes protection for 23 applications out of the box, including Web servers, email servers, database servers, and more; an agent for Sun Solaris 8; an Apache Web-server policy; and new email policies for Microsoft Exchange and SendMail.

The article says that commercial filtering software flagged too many of the 30,000 Microsoft Outlook messages that flowed in and out. InfoWorld reports Ipswitch introduced a new version of its Internet messaging system designed for small and midsize enterprises and service providers. The article says that IMail 7.1 has a new feature that allows the system to recognize Outlook calendar users, send calendar invitations to Outlook, and automatically file IMail calendar events in Outlook.
