Arch Wireless announced enhanced support for the Microsoft Exchange component of its Arch Wireless Enterprise Solution (AWES), the company’s wireless enterprise server launched nationwide earlier this year. AWES connects the mobile professional to critical enterprise data from wireless devices. AWES provides real-time wireless access to firewall protected files and enterprise applications such as email, CRM and ERP, while giving mobile workers the flexibility of using any device or network to access the information.

EMS Professional 8.0 tracks everything from initial contact with the customer to final settlement of the bill, including the management of all event-related services and resources. It comes with a complete set of clear, concise reports, including confirmations, schedules, calendars, worksheets, invoices and managerial reports.

The Pen&Internet division of Parascript announced the release of the final beta of riteMail handwritten email software and service for multiple platforms, including the Palm OS, Pocket PC, and Windows. With this beta release, riteMail now works in conjunction with Microsoft Outlook or any default email program.

Infoworld reports that the next version of Microsoft’s Exchange server software, code-named Titanium, is scheduled for availability in mid-2003 and will be released to hold customers over before shipping a future version of the software based on its .Net code. Titanium will be based on the same code used for its predecessor, Exchange 2000, Microsoft’s messaging and collaboration server software.

EDUCOM announced a strategic alliance with CompuSven Incorporated. The integration of EDUCOM’s Exchange Archive Solution (EAS) and CompuSven’s E-Mail Shuttle will enable EDUCOM’s channel to support, deliver and market the most comprehensive approach to accelerate and ease the migration of large-scale email systems to Microsoft Exchange from virtually any email system without losing access to critical data.

Stellent announced that Good Technology has integrated Stellent’s Outside In Wireless Export technology into its new GoodLink wireless corporate messaging system. Good has integrated Outside In Wireless Export into GoodLink to enable users to view email attachments created in a variety of document formats, such as Microsoft Office, WordPerfect, HTML, PDF and Rich Text Format, on their mobile devices.

Centrinity announced general availability of FirstClass 7.0. The latest version of the FirstClass messaging platform introduces the FirstClass Migrator and Connector tools for Microsoft Exchange, which enables existing Exchange users to integrate and migrate to FirstClass with ease. FirstClass 7.0 also provides a number of new enhancements to its core Calendaring facilities and the Standard Web and Mobile Web Interfaces.

Copytalk unveiled Listen and Reply, which lets subscribers listen to their email then reply by voice. Copytalk also announced a new low-cost yearly subscription and lower prices on existing plans. Copytalk Listen and Reply works with email from Outlook’s Inbox or any POP3 email account. Notifications can be filtered by time or sender and also can be turned on and off from the phone.

Panda Software warns users of a new email virus: W32/Frethem.K. While this email worm carries a rather low threat level, it is spreading rapidly throughout Europe. The email message carries only one subject field: "Re: Your password!" and, as Klez, exploits the vulnerability in Internet Explorer 5.01 and 5.5 that allows the virus to run automatically when the user views the message in the preview pane.
