
<p>Earlier this week, photo sharing app Albumatic announced it can now be known as Koa.la. The company pivoted, for a second time, away from its original group photo sharing idea, to become an app studio of sorts. It has built three apps for the Kik messenger platform, one of which accumulated a million users in its first 24 hours.</p><p>That's worth paying attention to. It's more users than Albumatic was able to get over the course of many months.</p><p>On PandoWeekly this week, Ludwin and I discussed his company's new direction, and why he believes that messaging apps like Kik will become huge distribution sources for app makers. Koa.la already has five more Kik apps in the works. The lines between messaging, gaming and photo sharing are blurring.</p><p>We also discussed the art of fundraising, and why some apps that are "too magical" end up scaring users away.
