NEWARK -- The fate of West New York Mayor Felix Roque and his son will be in the hands of the jury Monday following closing arguments today in their trial on charges they hacked a website created by a political foe that was critical of the mayor.

Defense attorneys today maintained that Joseph Roque, 23, had merely been interested in finding out who was behind the "Recall Roque" website, so he could warn his father about backstabbers attacking him in the "shark tank" of Hudson County politics.

The website was created in early 2012 by Hudson County Freeholder Jose Munoz under an assumed name. Unbeknownst to the mayor, Munoz was cooperating with the FBI at the time and was wearing a wire.

Attorneys for the Roques continued to hammer the point that Joseph acted alone and had neither the consent or cooperation of his father, who had been in office less than a year.
