Windows Live Mail user Wanda Prosser wrote that her Inbox lists her oldest mail first, rather than having her most recent messages on top. The fix is to click on the word "Date" to reverse the order, showing the newest mail first and the older mail last.

This also works on many other computer lists. Clicking on headers such as "Date" or "Date Received" toggles the order of the dates (or other numbers) in a column.

Wanda also complained that WLM listed her messages as "Conversations," meaning that multiple emails from one person are bundled into a group along with her replies. To defeat the "Conversation" mode click on "Sort Order" under the "View" tab.

Gmail uses "conversation grouping" as well. To change this mode, click on the "gear" in the upper right corner. Then click on "Settings>General>Conversation View Off."
