France solicits Windows challengers

The French government says it is looking to cut its software budget in half by opening up bids to providers of open source <A HREF="http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=reutersEdge&storyID=5472776">software that competes with Windows.</A> A government minister says France doesn't have a bias against Microsoft. It just wants to limit its reliance on a single vendor.
