Postini blocks Friend Greeting

Postini announced deployment of a new service enhancement to its existing email filtering capabilities that blocks the <A HREF="http://www.postini.com/">latest threat</A> to corporate and service provider email users, the Friend Greeting application. The Friend Greeting application is an email message crafted by a company called FriendGreetings.com. When opened, the Friend Greeting message requires the recipient to download and install an application and agree to allow the recipient to send its list of Microsoft Outlook contacts directly to FriendGreetings.com. This interactive process is not the same as the classic email virus, but is considered a threat because proprietary corporate contact information may be released to FriendGreetings.com.
