
Deep Impact is near the <A HREF="http://www.usatoday.com/tech/science/space/2005-07-03-deep-impact_x.htm">final stage of its journey</A>, when it is expected to crash into the Temple 1 comet at about 23,000 miles per hour. The high-speed crash is to occur at 1:52 am Monday and will produce an explosion that should be visible from parts of the Western Hemisphere.
