Last night, Microsoft sent out an E-Mail to its Windows Phone customers where the the Redmond-based software giant thanks its customers by showing its "appreciation of Windows Phone customers" by giving them an extra 20 GB of free SkyDrive cloud storage. This is in addition to the 7 GB of free SkyDrive storage that all Windows Phone customers have at last. SkyDrive is built into Windows Phone, as it is in Windows 8.1, and similar to Dropbox, Box or Google Drive, it's a personal online storage that is accessible along with the photos and files at SkyDrive.com and through the SkyDrive mobile app. However, this goody has one drawback since it's only good for one year after that it expires.

After one year, Microsoft takes back the extra 20 GB which means in worst case that no further data, including photos, videos and documents can be uploaded. Nevertheless, no data will be deleted and they will stay available and accessible on SkyDrive.

To apply this storage to a Windows Live SkyDrive account, Windows Phone users have to click the sent link by January 31, 2014.

Cheers ~ Arne
