Today users of Apple's OS X 10.8 or higher will be seeing an update to their systems in the form of an OTA software notification. The version of OS X appearing on MacBook and iMac devices goes by the version number 10.8.4 and brings on a variety of boosts and bug fixes, not least of these being connectivity with "certain enterprise Wi-fi networks". Apple has also let it be known that Microsoft Exchange compatibility has been given a boost when it comes to the standard Apple Calendar app.

This update will be coming automatically to users of Mac OS X Mountain Lion and includes a brand new version of Safari as well. Version 6.0.5 of Safari will likely require the implementation of OS X 10.8.4 to work, and at the moment does not appear to be available outside this operating system upgrade.

OS X 10.8.4 works with improved VoiceOver feature capabilities with text inside PDF documents across the board, and fixes a Boot Camp issue as well. This Boot Camp issue had users unable to put their devices to sleep after using the feature this is now fixed like a charm.

Another fix has been issued that allows FaceTime calls to be made with non-USA phone numbers where this had previously been completely blocked or working at less-than-optimum levels. Apple also adds the regular "stability, compatibility, and security" add-on for the update, aiming at items like iMessage and desktop background preservation after restart. Have a peek at Apple's full run-down of the fixes included with this update and make it a reality for yourself today just as soon as you see it.

Read also:

Mac OS X 10.8.4 fixes iMessage ordering issue, more (Macworld)

Apple's Latest OS X Update Fixes More Messages Bugs (Gizmodo)

Apple issues OS X 10.8.4 update, includes iMessage and FaceTime fixes (Ars Technica)

Explore: 16 additional articles.
