
<p>An op in which suspects caught with small amounts of cocaine receive a conditional caution rather than the prospect of prosecution has been praised for cutting violent crime.</p><p>Under Op Kingston, Merseyside Police officers have been deploying to Liverpool city centre from mid-evening to the early hours which is an identified peak time for violence.</p><p>Suspects who are caught carrying fewer than five individual wraps of the Class A drug and who have no criminal record for possession with intent to supply are handed over to colleagues at a mobile custody suite to receive a conditional caution.</p><p>A Crown Prosecution Service representative is also in the mobile suite to authorise the move.
