Q: Several months ago, faint vertical white lines appeared across the entire monitor screen. I purchased a new HP in 2011. At first I thought it was caused by my HP printer, which I had been having other problems with, so I purchased a new printer. The lines are still there. When I print out documents, the lines seem not to appear, but if I try to print a picture, it has the white lines. I'm beginning to think my problem might be in the computer's system.

Bill Horton

A: The first thing I'd do is update the drivers for your graphic adapter.
