NORTH RIDGEVILLE - The city school district will contract with eSchoolView for its Instant Connect telephone messaging system.

The school board March 19 approved awarding a contract running through June 30, 2015 to the company for its system that automatically dials parents with a prerecorded message in the event of a school cancellation or emergency. Instant Connect will replace AlertNow, a system the school district has been using for the same purpose.

The board opted to make the change because the new system will save the district money, and it will integrate better with other software the district plans to use.

"It's certainly cheaper than our current AlertNow program," said Bill Greene, executive director for business services. "It still allows us to do the mass numbers of people in a short amount of time through telephone messages, but it's much cheaper."
