<p>Just six months after the first retail computer systems with Windows 8 went on sale, an early development snapshot of Windows Blue has been leaked to the web. As you'd expect, enthusiastic early adopters who aren't concerned about that Microsoft Confidential warning have taken to forum sites and YouTube to offer others a glimpse at the unfinished update to Windows 8.</p><p>So what's new in Windows Blue? For starters, there's finally a Modern version of the Windows Explorer file manager that's accessible from the Start Screen. Internet Explorer 11 is also included, and the Start Screen itself has been tweaked to allow additional personalization options including a smaller Live Tile size that's about a quarter of the 11 square tiles in Windows 8. Microsoft has also added a new Snap view that gives two Windows 8 apps an equal share of the display. Those same apps can be stretched to cover multiple monitors in the Windows Blue update.</p><p>SkyDrive integration has also been improved, and Windows Blue will feature automatic camera uploads. It's also believed that SkyDrive's synchronization abilities will be tapped to provide browser session synchronization for Internet Explorer 11. Yes, you'll finally be able to take your IE tabs with you in Windows Blue, and all you'll need is your Windows Live credentials.</p><p>When will Windows Blue arrive? That information has yet to be shared by Microsoft. To this point, most in the tech world suspect that developer and public previews will arrive in the next few months. It's also thought that Windows Blue will be a free (or at least very, very inexpensive) upgrade for anyone who's purchased Windows 8. Based on the evolutionary changes in the leaked Windows Blue build, let's hope that's the case.
