Keznews.com posters are claiming that they have <A HREF="http://securitywatch.eweek.com/vista_product_activation_hacked_by_brute_force.html?kc=EWEWEMNL030507EP35C">hacked Vista product activation by brute force.</A>
Hackers at that site were boasting of being "Shocked Shocked Shocked" at having activated Vista Home Basic and having gotten a "valid key for my Vista business."
According to instructions for the hack, a process called "wscript.exe" that sucks up "a lot of CPU resources" throws some 10,000 keys per half hour at the system--a brute-force method that can take hours or days but which seems to be returning legitimate keys consistently.
