EMC Corp. announced plans to <A HREF="http://www.computerworld.com/hardwaretopics/storage/story/0,10801,82823,00.html?SKC=news82823">purchase storage software vendor Legato Systems</A> in an all-stock deal worth $1.3 billion. According to Computerworld, Legato will be operated in Mountain View as a software division of EMC and led by David Wright, Legato's current chairman and CEO. Legato brings to the table its EmailXtender product, which supports backup and recovery of enterprise email, including Microsoft Exchange/Outlook, Lotus Notes/Domino, Bloomberg Mail and Unix Sendmail, as well as instant messaging.
